Job Description

The Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner (APN/NP) works within the guidelines of a collaborative practice agreement with an active member of the medical staff of Delnor Hospital. In partnership with physicians and other health care team members, the APN/NP assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates care for a specific patient population based on individual scope of practice.
Through the application of evidenced-based decision making, the APN/NP serves as a leader, educator, researcher and clinical mentor to all members of the health care team with the goal of achieving optimal patient outcomes. The APN/NP practices utilizing the scope and standards of practice for the advanced practice nurse as published by the American Nurses’ Association.

Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Science.
• Current IL. license as a Nurse Practitioner
• Maintains clinical competencies through participating in continuing educational programs and clinical practice as mandated by Board of Nursing and national certification body.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Hematology/Oncology or Acute care.
• Experience in relevant patient care setting or as regulations dictate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients/families as well as staff and physicians
• Chemotherapy administration and OCN certification required
• Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to function independently
