Job Description

BE A PART OF a phenomenal TEAM whose mission is to serve immigrants and unaccompanied children at Catholic Charities Esperanza Center!  Our Health Clinic, located in Historic Fells Point in Baltimore,  provides primary care, dental services and specialty referrals to uninsured immigrants and their families on a walk-in basis.  The Health Clinic is one part of the Center, which provides immigration legal services, English as a Second Language classes, and comprehensive information and resources for immigrants in the Baltimore region and beyond.  The Family Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing quality health care services to the patients in the Clinic and will work with volunteer physicians, nurses and other health care providers in a welcoming, professional and culturally competent environment. The ideal candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Full-time is preferred, but part-time candidates will also be considered, especially if bilingual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides  medical care, including the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of immigrant patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses, ordering of laboratory and other diagnostic tests, patient referrals, and the prescription of medication.
  • Collaborates with medical and other program staff and participates in preventative health programs to facilitate the optimal health of clients.
  • Collaborates on the development and management of clinical policies and procedures, and assists with establishment and maintenance of written standards of care and quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Assists the Health Services Manager in completing grant reports with data, stories and outcomes
  • Maintains clinical records on all patients
  • Serves as a member of Quality Assurance, Credentialing and Peer Review Committees as needed and      appropriate.
  • Communicates and interacts professionally with culturally-diverse populations and with medical and non-medical staff and volunteers
  • Must remain flexible to the needs of clients, staff and volunteers
  • Daytime schedule, but flexibility needed for occasional evening and Saturday clinics.
