The Medical University of South Carolina has served the citizens of South Carolina since 1824. MUSC is engaged in activities statewide and is recognized nationally for excellence in interprofessional education.

The Division of Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) is housed within the Department of Health Professions of the College of Health Professions, which is recognized for extensive integration of technology, simulation, and interprofessional education into its outstanding educational programs. Our accredited masters-level program was established in 1994. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to educating outstanding physician assistants with the characteristics and skills necessary to meet our mission.

Position Description

The College of Health Professions invites applications from qualified candidates for a faculty position within the Division of Physician Assistant Studies. Faculty are responsible for design and implementation of the educational curriculum, facilitation of all aspects of student learning, and student advisement for achievement of educational goals. The individual selected for this position will have primary responsibility for coordination and teaching of the Program’s three-semester clinical medicine course or equivalent instructional responsibilities. Other responsibilities may include contribution to student advisement and mentoring, program, department and college committee service, community service, and scholarship. The opportunity to provide clinical care for up to 20% of effort is available.

Qualifications

1. Must have a minimum of a masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related discipline;
2. Must be a PA-C with a minimum of 3 years practice experience, preferably in primary care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or general internal medicine;
3. Must possess a South Carolina license or be eligible for licensure in South Carolina;
4. Must possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
5. Must have a strong commitment to the development and success of the PAS Division, the College of Health Professions, and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Reporting

The individual will report to the PAS Program Director. Performance evaluations are conducted by the Program Director with input from the Chair and Dean.
