Job Description

The purpose of the Child Development & Rehabilitation Center of the Oregon Health Sciences University is to assure that persons in Oregon with developmental disabilities and other disabling conditions are identified and assured ready access to exemplary and coordinated services through programs of public health, clinical service, education, research and care coordination.  This position is a member of the OHSU/CDRC Regional Hemophilia Center, providing multidisciplinary diagnosis, consultation and treatment to individuals with Hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.  This position  serves as Hemophilia Treatment Center Coordinator; providing services in an active multidisciplinary treatment program; participating in and training activities and community education with families, patients and health care providers; assisting with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders related research.

This is a full-time (1.0) FTE faculty position. Schedule to be determined. Salary will be commensurate with experience.  This position is located on the Marquam Hill campus.

The duties of this position include:

  • Provide primary care within the scope of practice for FNPs.; out-patient, in-patient and surgery services for hemophilia patients at OHSU.
  • Direct patient care for drop-in patients:  assessment and management of bleeding episodes in persons with hemophilia and other bleeding tendencies with infusion of appropriate clotting factor or replacement product based on HTC protocols; assessment and determination of other treatment modalities for specific patients with multidisciplinary team member input.
  • Evaluation, treatment and management of patient/family at annual comprehensive clinic evaluations and at outreach hemophilia clinics.  Orders appropriate diagnostic studies/labs, make diagnoses, and prescribes treatment, including coordination of follow up care.
  • Telephone consultation and triage with patients, parents and families, primary health care providers, etc. about bleeding episodes and therapies.  Ongoing communication with primary care provider and community.
  • Establish therapeutic patient care plans that are based on assessment of medical histories, physical examination, diagnostic procedures and follow up.
  • Develop and participate in training activities for patients, families, community, health care providers,  and students.
  • Implement, support and participate in research activities. Provide clinical care within the context of providing care for persons enrolled on studies or those eligible for studies.
  • Coordinate patient care, clinical and program activities, outreach and training programs.
  • Facilitate collaboration among all team members.
  • Assist program staff and clinicians with billing and managed care issues.
  • Develop and participate in continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Continue professional education.
  • Active member of the CDRC Nursing Discipline

REQUIRED:

  •  Valid Oregon RN license and Family Nurse Practitioner certificate with prescriptive privileges and DEA#.
  • Current CPR from the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Able to function as member of an interdisciplinary team, providing family centered care.
  • Experience with bleeding disorders or in hematology preferred.
  • Able to travel for outreach programs, training and meetings; may include some overnight stays.
