Advanced nursing positions are available at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for Nurse Practitioners in our departments of Cardiology, Critical Care and Orthopedic/Neurology.

Responsibilities include:

• Provides clinical care to patients admitted to the hospital.  Assess patients and manage all aspects of care, including scheduling invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Communicates clinical issues to the attending physician, write orders according to standardized procedures/protocals, and facilitates arrangements for discharge of patients.
• Interacts with Pharmacy, Radiology and the Lab to coordinate and schedule services.
• Works collaboratively with all members of the service to ensure continuity of care between the patient and referring physician.
• Supports/educates nursing staff regarding protocal goals and treatment strategies.

Requirements include:

• Active Nurse Practitioner licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine or Virginia Board of Nursing.
• Licensed to prescribe medications as issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Eligible for certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Three (3) years hospital based Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
