Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Elkin, North Carolina

Kids Count Pediatrics, PLLC – Posted by classen_eventer@yahoo.com Elkin, North Carolina, United States

Job Description

Kids Count Pediatrics, PLLC is a pediatric practice created 8 years ago in the medical home model.  We are currently looking for a nurse practioner or physician’s assistant to work full or part time.  Our practice offers a unique opportunity to work in an established NCQA Level III certified medical home model caring for a wonderful group of families in an underserved community.  Working here, providers can truly improve care and outcomes for children and families.

Since its inception, Kids Count Pediatrics, PLLC has grown from a single pediatrician to three pediatric providers, an integrated LPC providing full time mental health care, a full time co-located speech and occupational therapist as well as, one day a week, a co-located speech pathologist and  a neuropsychologist.  In addition, we have a tele-health link with Wake Forest to allow our families who have kids struggling with obesity better access the Brenner Fit Program there.  We have sponsored nutrition and parenting classes at our facility.  In addition to our well child population, we pull children with chronic illness, medical fragility, developemental disabilites, learning differences, ADHD, school & mental health issues from 7 surrounding rural counties working closely with the pediatric specialists at Wake Forest Brenners Children’s Hospital.

Our patient population is primarily (85%) Medicaid with a patient complexity rating that is nearly twice the North Carolina average.  During the last fiscal year, we saved Medicaid $720,000, and, the previous year, we saved Medicaid $1,000,000 by providing aggessive preventative and primary care.  We prescribe fewer medications, our children are hospitalized less frequently, and they bounce back to the ER less often than the average practice.  The kids we care for are happier, healthier, and their decreased need for inpatient services saves the system a substantial amount of money.

Our hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 7 pm.  Some providers work 8 am to 5 pm, some work 10 am to 7 pm, and we have had a provider who worked a 4 day week of 8 am to 7 pm days.  Hours are flexible.  There is no call.  We work closely as a team.  We have a weekly provider meeting where we review current journal articles, and a weekly staff meeting to discuss any issues.  We have PA, NP and medical students rotate through from a number or colleges and universities.  We use the Practice Fusion electronic medical record system for documentation.

We need someone who can come in and see 20-35 patients a day (depending on the complexity and time of year).  Salary would be based on experience, a reference point – our current PA who is right out of school started at 72K. We provided quarterly bonuses based on performance.  We provide health/dental through BCBS.  We have a 401K as well as a program to put money away pre-tax for medical/child care/ etc.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about their job and who wants to work in a creative, team oriented environment.
