Full-Time Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner – Manhattan, New York
Job Description
Plancher Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to complement our current Nurse Practitioners in our Manhattan office.
• Operating in concert with and under the direction of a Licensed Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon subspecialty trained in Sports Medicine and Hand Surgery.
• Specialized knowledge and skills in the provision of direct patient care.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints/tendons/trigger points/bursa, as well as brace/cast/splint.
• Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks.
• Good knowledge of signs and symptoms of a variety of orthopaedic disorders.
• Meets all requirements in or to obtain Physician Assistant Credentialing and required privileges of service. Maintains current and valid New York and Connecticut licensures.
• Engages in annual continuing medical education in orthopaedics specialty to meet organizational and state licensing requirements.
• Uses computerized digital office systems in order to obtain patient information, order labs and tests, and check messages.
• Order, prescribe, dispense and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces, and other Orthopaedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation.
• Maintains skill and capability to efficiently make decisions.
• Advises patients and family members in methods that facilitate a capacity for self-care and a move toward healthcare partnership between providers, patients, and their families.
• Understanding of patient-related HIPPA privacy requirements when communicating with patients and managing patient records.
