Job Description

Busy high-end Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Practice is looking for an outstanding, autonomous and motivated PA.  This PA position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice” under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director who is a specialist in musculoskeletal conditions, PM&R and Sports Medicine. In general, this position includes the routine management of chronic and stable medical conditions, medical and post-surgical follow up, medication management, physical therapy and therapeutic exercises, education and care planning according to approved standardized procedures. The position will participate in medical clinic and post-surgical cases.

 

We are looking for someone motivated and driven with outstanding patient care, great communication skills, ability to work effectively under minimal supervision and committed to delivering the highest quality health care. The PA provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of standardized procedures.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide exceptional medical care and treatment for patients focusing in the musculoskeletal field.
  • Performs direct and indirect care pre- and post-operatively as well as general PM&R and Sports Medicine care. 
  • Performs evaluation of new patients, obtains medical history, performing physical exam, reporting into patient’s medical record and directs plan of care under the supervision of the clinical director.
  • Arrange scheduling of patient for follow-up and recommends consultation with physicians when specialty care is needed.
  • Work closely with Physical Therapy and ensure treatment for patient is in line with current injury.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic studies
  • Maintain medical records using Electronic Medical Record System
  • Administer trigger point injections
  • Administer knee, hip, and shoulder injections

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of previous experience (Orthopedic/ Sports Medicine preferred)
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school
  • Board certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the State of New York and by the Medical Board of Physician Assistants.
  • Current DEA License
  • BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation
  • Consistently and positively communicates and collaborates with colleagues, supervisors, and patients, both internal and external
  • Meets attendance standards and uses timekeeping system accurately and consistently
  • Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent teamwork skills
