Orthopedic Physician Assistant opportunity in sunny southwest Florida
Full time position – Prefer experience but will train

Salary negotiable based on experience

Perform duties to assist the physician in patient care and chart completion. Work ahead of the physician to ensure all paperwork and patient contact/needs are addressed prior to physician contact.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Performs diagnostic and theraputic evaluations, treatment, follow-up and health education. Complete all documents in the chart and ensure dictation is completed in a timely manner.

*Complete chart dictation daily. Sign all dictation daily and forward the reports to the physician to counter-sign. Respond to patient inquiry and chart questions daily.

* Obtain patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

* Review the surgery charts the day before the procedure to ensure all items are complete. Arrive at the facilities early to ensure the surgery charts and reports are complete. Ensure OR room/equipment is ready and set-up for physician to begin the procedure upon arrival.

*First assist in OR including on-call and scheduled procedures. Ensure chart is complete for surgery. Speak to patient at time of scheduling and go over the history. Ensure imaging studies are complete and available for surgery. Develop patient care plan, including discharge orders and post-op calls following surgery.

* Dictate the H&P and discharge summaries at the facilities. Complete medical records per facility guidelines and in a timely manner.

* Take patient calls as directed by triage nurse. Notify the physician of any problem or concern that is of an emergent nature. Document patient contact in the chart and ensure the physician sign-off on the note. Daily care of IP, Admissions, H&P, D/C, daily rounds.

* Provides health education to families, and /or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty.

* Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks.

* Meets all requirements for credentialing and required privileges. Maintains a current Florida license. Engages in annual continuing medical education as required by state and facility requirements.

* Supervises and / or coordinates the activities of patient care and / or support staff.

* Administers a specific health care activity, as appropriate.

* May participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures

* Practices safety, environmental, and / or infection control methods

* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
