Job Description

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university from a recognized Physician Assistant program, National Board Certification of Physician Assistants, licensure to practice from the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners, and three or more years’ experience as a Physician Assistant in the area of specialty
Several years of Operating Room, Intensive Care Unit, or Ward experience with cardiac, thoracic and/or vascular surgery patients
Knowledge of thoracic oncology procedures
Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer databases
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; lift patients; work with a diverse population
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred
Three or more years’ of  experience as a Physician Assistant in a Cardiothoracic and/or Thoracic Oncology practice
Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant Specialty position is responsible for assisting physicians in Thoracic Oncology Surgery with pre, intra and post-operative care and to follow and maintain continuity of care among the patients receiving chronic therapeutic procedures.  The duties include, but are not limited to:  performing history and physical examinations, consultations, writing admissions and perioperative orders, recording progress notes, procedure notes, and brief operative notes; acquiring/analyzing patient care data and information and present findings and recommendations to attending surgeons; participating in daily patient rounds and providing in-house call when needed; manage the care of inpatients, evaluating new patients and establishing in clinic setting, dictating clinic notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries; appropriate prescription privileges in accordance with DEA regulations and Georgia State laws; First or Second assist the attending surgeons during cardiac procedures and general thoracic procedures to include, placement of drains, catheters, pacing wires, chest tubes, and central lines as directed by attending surgeon; provide patient education and family counseling regarding health care plans and procedures; participate in on-going competency and on-going nurse education programs in the operating room, intensive care unit, and patient care wards; assist in teaching students, interns, and residents in complex cardiothoracic techniques and procedures; and other duties as assigned.

Shift: Days/M-F
Salary: $80,202/Annual
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of candidate
Pay Grade: 25
