Position: Physician Assistant
Prairie Spine and Pain Institute, Peoria IL (Dr. Richard Kube)
This is not a typical Spine PA role, nor does it require spine experience.
This is a PA role including clinical, OR, rounds, taking calls, but NOT trauma center. Includes some nights and weekends but really more similar to a sports medicine lifestyle within a lucrative spine practice. Depending on the person and their interests, it can also include some marketing and practice building, but not required. Dr. Kube is the first in Illinois to begin using the Nuvasive PCM cervical disc replacement implant on patients. The facilities are quite impressive and advanced compared to other spine institutes. Experience with this procedure, or with spine surgery in general, is not required. He is willing to train an exceptional person into this. Dr. Kube also completed the first two level cervical disc replacement in the state. He wanted to implement this new disc replacement implant because it makes subtle advancements in previous disc replacements as it more closely mimics natural neck motion. There is also an advantage to the way the implant is fixed to the spine. It decreases the bone cuts that need to be performed, decreasing bleeding and increasing our ability to complete this procedure on an outpatient basis. In the past his disc replacement patients had to stay in the hospital at least one night. With this new implant his patients are able to walk out of Prairie SurgiCare that afternoon, just hours after surgery. The Institute has been growing 50 to 100% each of the past four years and still growing. Looking for a highly motivated PA with great interpersonal/patient skills. Willing to hire a candidate with great potential who does not have the spine surgical experience.
