Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Cardiothoracic Surgery

WVU Medicine/University Health Associates, located in Morgantown, West Virginia, has some exciting opportunities for Advanced Practice NP or PA’s in Cardiothoracic Surgery. We are actively recruiting those individuals who have a strong interest in the surgical arena, specifically Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery.

We are expanding quickly due to the addition of the new Heart Vascular Institute led by world-renowned cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Vinay Badhwar, the new University Town Center-Surgical Pavilion and expansion of many off-site locations. We are actively recruiting those individuals who have a strong interest in the surgical arena, specifically Cardiothoracic(CT) Surgery. You will play a vital clinical role in the Pre-operative, Intra-operative and Post-operative phases of the CT Surgery patient experience.   You will be ordering / interpreting labs and diagnostic studies. With the latter information you will develop a plan of care from the collaboration with the team. You will be working side-by-side with leaders in Adult Robotic CT Surgery, as well as, in Valvulopathy, Aortic procedures (both open and trans-catheter approach) and Coronary Artery Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner:

  • Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • National certification by one of the recognized APRN certification centers
  • Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • BLS Certification with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.

Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant:

  • Bachelor’s Degree as a Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant required. Masters level education preferred.
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine.
  • BLS Certification with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
