Full Salary Range: $45.60 – $57.81/Hourly. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

College mental health provides a unique clinical experience for the nurse practitioner. The opportunity to intervene in a young adult’s development is often pivotal and gratifying. A biopsychosocial approach to treatment is preferred and valued at UCSC.
Under the general direction and clinical supervision of the Director of Psychiatry, or designee, and in accordance with standardized procedures, provides specialized psychiatric nurse practitioner outpatient care, as part of Student Health Services (SHS) Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
The service emphasizes diagnostic evaluation and assessment, crisis intervention, supportive psychotherapy in conjunction with medication management, and consultation with other medical providers, counselors, campus administrators and staff.
This position requires advanced academic specialization and/or clinical experience in mental health on the part of the nurse practitioner.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current Nurse Practitioner license, in good standing.
Current State of California Registered Nurse license, in good standing.
Current Nurse Practitioner license and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing license, in good standing.
Must possess a current federal DEA license.
ANCC Board Certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner or Board Eligible as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (if Board Eligible, must become Board Certified as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner within 6 months of employment).
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. and a pre-employment credentialing check prior to formal offer.
Will be required to complete HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act) Training within 30 days of hire.
Job will require occasional working of non-traditional hours.
Will be required to comply with current Student Health Center employee health safety requirements for health care workers as defined by state and federal regulatory agencies; current  health safety requirements to be discussed during interview.
Will be required to complete Title IX (Sexual Harassment) training every two years.
Per the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter. The selected candidate will be required to report known or suspected child abuse or neglect as defined by CANRA and will be required to sign a Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse prior to commencing employment.
Qualifications include:
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as listening skills.
Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills with ability to prioritize a high-volume workload and function independently under time pressures.
Ability to work on several tasks concurrently with frequent interruptions.
Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary team effort; carry out assignments in a responsible manner; participate in a positive and cooperative manner during staff meetings; respond well to supervision.
Ability to handle difficult, sensitive and confidential situations tactfully.
