Full-Time Staff clinician with pioneering medical practice
Job Description
Flexible scheduling and top compensation are key characteristics of a full-time position with the nation’s recognized leader in home-based primary care. With Doctors Making Housecalls (“DMHC”), a qualified PA or ANP functions like a real clinician, not a “triage officer,” providing the ultimate in patient-centered primary care to complex older patients.
As the patient’s primary care clinician for your own panel of patients, you follow patient longitudinally, and coordinate/oversee all their care. You also have a close working relationship with the patient’s family caregivers. About 80% of our work is based in assisted or independent living communities, so there is much less “running around from place to place” then you might think, given the fact that we are seeing patients in their own environment. You see only 10 – 15 patients a day, typically in 2.0 to 2.5 locations, spending as much time as each patient warrants.
DMHC is owned and managed by its 2 founding physicians, so the entire culture and environment is geared to creating a comfortable lifestyle, enormous support, and clinical excellence. It is the exact opposite of working for “the man;” i.e. doing shift work in the hospital, ED, or urgent care clinic.

You also have very close, on-demand support from the best internist/geriatrician in the state. This makes our positions suitable for new graduates who are motivated, compulsive and eager to learn.
We offer full- and even part-time positions throughout the state of NC, except in the Triangle Region (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill), our “home area,” where our positions are currently filled. Positions are still open in the greater Charlotte region, the Triad Area (Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point), Greenville, Asheville, and the smaller communities between those major population centers.
With 75 clinicians (50 physicians and 25 PAs/NPs), DMHC is the largest private primary care practice in North Carolina. It is also the best performing of the 15 practice in CMS/CMMI’s groundbreaking, national demonstration program known as “Independence At Home.”
