Job Summary:
There’s no better time than now to join the Marist College PA Program where you can help to train the next generation of high-quality PAs in the Mid-Hudson Valley. We are seeking two passionate clinicians to join us at our state-of-the-art Allied Health Building as Principal Faculty Members. The ideal candidate will join a team of hardworking individuals dedicated to developing competent, compassionate, and culturally sensitive PAs.

We’re looking for an individual to help us maintain and exceed our 97% average NCCPA first-time PANCE pass rate, and our 100% overall program pass rate. The ideal candidate will be an experienced clinician who is able to share their clinical experiences and practically apply them within our curriculum.

This includes training in both the academic and administrative functions of the role. The program also provides funding for professional development to enable faculty members to have the resources to be at their best.

At least 3 years practicing as a clinician

Duties & Responsibilities:
Didactic faculty members are expected to design, execute, and deliver coursework to students. Faculty members should be comfortable speaking publicly, and comfortable navigating basic technology. The overall roles and responsibilities include:
- Providing student instruction by delivering and coordinating didactic courses
- Preparing and update syllabi
- Developing evaluation instruments (i.e., rubrics, examination, assignments, practical exams, simulation)
- Assessing the reliability and validity of examination instruments
- Evaluating student performance and monitor evaluation of learning outcomes for courses
- Monitoring individual student progress
- Providing remedial instruction for struggling students
- Counseling students on academic progress as faculty advisor
- Participating in the Admissions process selecting applicants to the PA program
- Actively participating in program committees
- Actively participating in the development, review, and revision to the mission statement, goals, and program competencies
- Providing input into the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the curriculum and program-related activities
- Evaluating the program
- Participating in service activities at the Program, School, and College level
- Providing high-quality work demonstrating initiative, innovation, professionalism, and significant attention to detail
Essential Functions:
- Teach and coordinate the didactic curriculum
- Participate in the development and evaluation of the curriculum
- Participate in curriculum mapping
- Develop instruments to monitor overall efficacy of didactic courses including:
- Testing instruments reflecting course objectives
- Adhering to national and state accreditation requirements
- Proctor examinations
- Design and implement student remediation assignments
- Evaluate and monitor overall academic competency and individual student progress during the didactic year
- Serve as a chair for one program committee
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of applicants as a member of the Program’s admission committee.
- Participates in reaccreditation and program evaluation activities as determined by the Program Director. This includes but is not limited to:
- Participating in the assessment process
- Analyzing course data
- Preparing accreditation documents prior to ARC-PA site visits
- Participating in ARC-PA site visits
- Participate in program events including:
- Program/College workshops & retreats
- Annual program events
- Admissions events
- Clinical call back days
- Summative examinations
- Participate in college-wide events (i.e. commencement, assessment day)
- Hold office hours in accordance with Marist College policy
- Foster student achievement and success
- Demonstrate commitment to Marist College and the program’s mission, vision, and values
- Other responsibilities as determined by the Program Director
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a medical program or higher education
- Experience teaching topics in Clinical Medicine, Comprehensive Diagnosis, Emergency Medicine/Surgical Specialties
- Experience with medical simulation
