Nurse Practitioner
Job Type: Part Time 30 hours a week
Location: Bureau of Prisons, San Diego, California
Schedule Range: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-2PM)
Responsibilities: Included but not limited to

- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population
- Conduct medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory test, x-ray and other diagnostic testing
- Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely and professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe medication utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting and immobilizing
- attend to medical emergencies
- Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
- Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
- Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of health care services
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional or mental problems
- Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
- Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
- Constantly be aware of security and maintain a professional relationship with inmates at all times
Requirements and Experience: Included but not limited to
- Valid California RN License
- Current CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator Card
- Providing verification of credentials
- Proof of Malpractice insurance
- Must have 1 year family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience
