Job Summary: The Spine & Brain Group Physician Assistant is a skilled member of an allied health care team who provides patient services under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with Chapter Med 8 of the Wisconsin statutes. The Spine & Brain Group PA/RNP staff are a specialized workforce that compliments the practice that is all encompassing within the realm of neurosurgery.

Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner-Neurosurgery

Job Details:
The position of Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the established Spine & Brain Group, S.C. neurosurgery practice that specializes in the treatment and care of comprehensive spine, brain, and nerve conditions. The individual must be self-directed, personable, team-oriented, and possess the skills necessary to provide exceptional quality of care in a fast-paced environment. Neurosurgery or orthopaedic spine experience is preferred but willing to train the right candidate
The primary responsibility is to assess new patients for surgical treatments, to care for post-operative patients, to assist in surgical cases, and to care for non-surgical patients.
Electronic Patient Healthcare Information (ePHI) Access:
This position requires full access to ePHI.
-Hospital rounds
-Emergency call
-Assist in neurosurgical cases
-Perform comprehensive and problem focused H&Ps
-Perform initial evaluations, independently or in conjunction with physician
-Order and evaluate x-rays, MRIs and CTs
-Order and prescribe medications
-Manage prescription requests
-Manage physical and/or occupational services
-Manage return to work, workers compensation, disability forms
-Respond to patient calls to facilitate patient care delivery
-Effectively use an electronic healthcare record system (currently EPIC)
-Proficient in clinical documentation
-Effectively use electronic communication devices
-Educate patients and family on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
Qualifications:
-Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner educational program
-Current Wisconsin license with the ability to be credentialed by associated credentialing department(s)
-National certification as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
-Current Wisconsin Controlled Substance License Schedule II-V.
-Current Basic Life Support certification
-Current ACLS certification
