Job Description

Southern Michigan Pain Consultants is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant for our Marshall and Portage locations. Travel will be required between these clinics. We offer employees competitive wages, paid holidays, and paid time off. Employees can expect no night, weekend, or holiday shifts. GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Physician Assistant renders professional diagnostic and therapeutic medical care to adult patients of all ages under the supervising physician. Clinical privileges are based on academic and clinical experience, clinical judgment, and demonstrated competence in providing medical care services. The physician assistant or nurse practitioner reports directly to the medical director.

REQUIREMENTS:
General:
Applicant must be available to and have means to travel as necessary for orientation and training
CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment
ACLS certification or acquisition within 150 days of employment
Completion of proctoring program within 180 days of employment

Education:
Minimum: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program, current Licensure in the state of Michigan

Work Experience:
Minimum: Two years experience working in an appropriate clinical setting
Preferred: Two years experience working in an outpatient surgical setting

Supervisory Skills: Leadership skills, ability to educate others
Team Skills: Demonstrate ability to work as part of an effective team
Clinical Skills: Demonstrate competency in clinical judgments, technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Clinical Care
Utilize knowledge to provide professional diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult patients of all ages
Communicate changes in the status of patients to the attending physician as appropriate
Perform inpatient rounds within hospitals
Provide care management
Pump and DCS management
Provide patient education regarding procedures and medications

2. Case Load Management
Maintain a full schedule per practice template
Maintain an independent case load and assume responsibility for case load coverage in absence
Comply with administrative policies regarding corporate compliance, billing, coding, and documentation

3. Client Relations
Participate in client program development and management
Participate in professional organizations within the community
Participate in community workshops
Serve on committees and task forces on a voluntary and appointed basis
