Full-Time Physician Assistant for Spine Surgeon

Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies seeks a qualified physician assistant to work with a very busy board certified, fellowship trained spine surgeon who specializes in care of back and neck injuries and conditions as well as children and young adults with scoliosis of the spine.
Under the supervision of the orthopaedic spine surgeon the physician assistant will first assist in the operating room, round on hospital patients, evaluate patients in the clinical setting and perform pre-operative history and physicals.
Requirements:
- Formal training which will be indicated by graduation from an accredited physician assistant program certification by the NCCPA and licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of Colorado.
- Prior clinical and surgical spine orthopaedic experience preferred. Required to cover call (phone calls only) with supervising physicians.
- Current ACLS or BLS certification
Strong patient communication skills and sound surgical assisting abilities are a must for this position. There is a good deal of autonomy afforded the physician assistant as experience grows, therefore the ability to think independently and problem solve will be an asset to the applicant.
Must have attention to detail, take initiative to provide the best efficient care possible, understand the specialized practice and provide the very highest level care possible, strive to continue to learn and to be seen as a spine expert over time, and continue the professional education of orthopaedic spine care.
Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in turning, assist patients in arising from an exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair.

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $65,000 – $145,000/year, commensurate with experience
