Job Description

Nurse Practitioner – Clinic Based

The Nurse Practitioner shall be responsible for providing a variety of professional medical services including administering physical examinations, ordering films, reviewing diagnostic tests, and performing injections when medically necessary; Participates in team meeting where individual health plans are devised and reviewed with input from other professionals; Responsible for writing the order for patient treatment(s); Completes assessment of referred patient(s) to include medical history(s), and detailed account(s) of history(s); Identified abnormal findings and reports potential risks to associated physician and/or referring physician; Participates in assessment of patient and family educational needs and assists in the teaching thereof; Completes patient(s) reassessments and routinely monitors progress toward outcomes; Assesses patients’ support systems and makes appropriate referrals; Facilitates transfer of information among healthcare professionals in order to promote smooth patient transition between services and levels of care; Coordinates and implements financial strategies to maintain a cost effective environment; Develops and manages process improvement activities; Understands and supports Northern Montana Health Care’s mission, vision, values, and guiding principles; responds to customers in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner, while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and respect; Plans and incorporates new routines, procedures and equipment into practice.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, and completion of an approved course of study as a nurse practitioner
  • State licensure as a NP
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with an extensive and varied group of clients.
  • Must be able to make sound judgments.
  • Must maintain confidentiality

OR

Physician Assistant – Clinic Based:

Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories, and recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives; performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and departmental records. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interprets test results.  Promotes health and wellness by instructing and counseling patients; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.  Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.  Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities; contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Completion of an approved course of study as a Physician’s Assistant.
  • State licensure as a PA
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with an extensive and varied group of clients.
  • Must be able to make sound judgements.
  • Must maintain confidentiality
