Job Description:
The Department of Nursing at Salve Regina University is a historic leader in nursing education with a reputation for graduating exceptional professional nurses. Currently, Salve Regina University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing, with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and enjoy developing and mentoring the nurses of the future.
The nursing program was established at Salve Regina University in 1949 and later became the first nationally accredited program in Rhode Island. True to the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, the Department of Nursing creates a supportive learning community for students from all backgrounds and beliefs. The Department of Nursing endeavors to develop professional nurses who are liberally educated, ethically grounded, clinically competent providers of health care committed to human service and social justice regardless of the race, ethnicity of religion of the population served.

Graduates will be prepared to become lifelong learners, continuing to develop as health care providers and members of the global health partnerships, crafting the role of the nurse of the future.
Salve Regina University’s undergraduate nursing curriculum is based on the Essentials for Baccalaureate Nursing Education (2008). A BSN to DNP program began in 2014 and may offer additional opportunities for the faculty member. Faculty members teach in a personable environment of small classes and clinical groups enabling them to know and have a quantifiable impact on the success of their students. The nursing laboratory facilities include areas for practice of ambulatory and inpatient care. Simulation mannequins cross the lifespan including two 3G mannequins and birthing mom.
The members of the Department of Nursing are holistic in perspective and provide a supportive environment for colleagues from diverse backgrounds and professional experiences. Members of the faculty include advanced practice nurses in a variety of specialties, nurse administrators, nurse authors, and Fulbright scholar. Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary collaboration, service learning, and study abroad with nursing students.
Requirements:
Candidates with a specialty in Family Medicine, a Doctorate in Nursing and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in RI and MA are highly encouraged to apply.
