El Buen provides whole health for the whole family through a wide variety of medical, mental health, and wellness services; offers education programs that seek to strengthen families by providing learning opportunities for adults and children of all ages; and partners with other community agencies to bring economic stability programming to Central Texas families.

El Buen’s Wallace Mallory Clinic is the medical home for uninsured and underinsured families. The clinic is the only community health provider in Central Texas that, by design, offers culturally sensitive and bilingual medical services.

We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively with our entire healthcare team to provide the highest quality out-patient primary and preventive care as well as acute and chronic care. The health center allows you to work in a patient-centric environment utilizing a modern facility equipped with a Class D pharmacy as well as lab services and state of the art colposcopy equipment.  You will have the ability to get to know your patients, while helping to improve their health status.

Essential Functions:

  • Under supervision of Medical Director, provides direct primary and preventive healthcare to patients in a clinical setting.
  • Administers care to clinic patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up; participates in patient screening, charting, and education in accordance with current program guidelines.
  • Reviews all lab results and specifies follow-up for abnormal results.
  • Secures ongoing training to ensure maintenance of skills and license.
  • Participates in a collegial fashion with co-workers and volunteer staff.
  • Extends warm, compassionate care to all with a respect for the diversity of all patients.
  • Committed to excellence, best practices, and superior customer service with every patient.
  • Participates in ongoing Quality Assurance audits to include Peer Review, CP Review, Medication Administration review, and continuing education.
  • Supports and follows the most current evidence-based guidelines of practice in providing quality patient care.
  • Competency in utilizing electronic medical records and information systems; utilization of these systems to the fullest capacity to provide superior patient care documentation.
  • Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment as required.

 Family Nurse Practitioner Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse. Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse through the AANP or ANCC.
  • Texas DPS license and DEA certificate
  • Valid Prescriptive Authority in the state of Texas required
  • Current CPR certification through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Spanish-English Bilingual required
  • Typing and basic office skills, including computer use
  • EMR experience a plus; ability to complete training and utilize the NextGen electronic medical records system
  • Prefer two or more years of healthcare related experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an outpatient clinical setting, community health center, or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Willing to consider a new graduate.

Physician Assistant Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas required
  • Nationally Certified as a Physician Assistant through either the NCCPA or AAPA required
  • Texas DPS license and DEA certificate
  • Valid Prescriptive Authority in the state of Texas required
  • Current CPR certification through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Spanish-English Bilingual required
  • Typing and basic office skills, including computer use
  • EMR experience a plus; ability to complete training and utilize the NextGen electronic medical records system
  • Prefer two or more years of healthcare related experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in an outpatient clinical setting, community health center, or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Willing to consider a new graduate.

Wallace Mallory Clinic is open Monday-Thursday from 8 am – 7 pm, Friday from 8 am – 5 pm and two Saturdays each month.

Starting pay will be $78,000 – 85,000 annually, commensurate with experience.  El Buen offers an excellent benefits package, including employer-paid medical, dental, life, accident, and disability insurance, as well as employer retirement (5%) and matching (4%) contributions to a pension plan.  El Buen recognizes 13 paid holidays each year and provides paid vacation, sick leave and personal days.  Other benefits include paid liability insurance, CME and professional dues.
