PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT – Orthopedics/Spine

Primary Responsibilities:

• The Physician Assistant provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of the orthopaedic physician/surgeon.
• Covers Clinical Schedule, Hospital Rounding/Call Rotation as well as Surgical Assisting.

Other Responsibilities:

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
• Assists in surgical spine surgery.
• Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health care.
• Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Orders and supervises the administration of medications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

• Current license to practice as a Physician’s Assistant (PA) from the State of Wisconsin is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date.
• National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants certification (PA-NCCPA) is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date.

Skills/Requirements:

• Clinical and Operating Room experience with Orthopedic and Spine specialty background preferred. Willing to train the ideal candidate for the position.
• Organizational, self-starter and analytical skills necessary.
• Must possess a level of interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians to direct team members to ensure positive patient outcomes.
